New Features:

Fixes:

Version 2003.26x Revision History

Version Released Priority Description
v2003.261 08/14/03 High v2003.261 fixes a bug that was causing the Copy/Move function (activated via the thumbs or the queue) to only copy the first of multiple selected images.
v2003.262 08/21/03 Med v2003.262 includes the following:
  • Compatibility with a larger range of 16 bit TIFF formats: corrects "image read error" and other issues.
  • Corrected a print sizing issue when using "Img. Info" with "Optimal" placement.
  • Improved the logic for the saturation "lock channels" check box in the batch filter.
v2003.263 08/23/03 Med v2003.263 includes the following:
  • Initial positioning of prints in "Freehand" placement mode has been improved by showing an outline of the current print as the mouse is moved over the preview page on the main window. The outline allows better initial placement on the preview page during click/drag from the thumbnails.
  • Fixed a bug that was causing image size/location to change arbitrarily under some conditions when using "Freehand" placement mode.
v2003.264 08/26/03 Med v2003.264 fixes a bug that was causing the "Print to File" feature to only save the last page when auto-naming was used for saved pages.
v2003.265 09/02/03 Low v2003.265 includes the following:
  • Preliminary support for JPEG 2000 images. Qimage will recognize files with .JP2 extension as JPEG 2000 images and can also convert images to JPEG 2000 format via "Convert Images" from the queue. Current limitations of the JPEG 2000 format in Qimage:
  • JPEG 2000 loading/saving is inherently slower than JPEG due to complexity of the "wavelet" technology.
  • While Qimage will recognize and use embedded ICC profiles in existing JPEG 2000 images, all saved JPEG 2000 images will be saved without a profile.
  • Fixed a bug that was causing prints to "creep" down or right on the page editor under some conditions.
v2003.266 09/02/03 High v2003.266 fixes a bug that was causing Qimage to crash when building JPEG 2000 thumbnails. Also made the "JPEG quality" parameter operate more uniformly with respect to JPEG 2000 saves.
v2003.267 09/18/03 Low v2003.267 increases the radius limit of the unsharp mask filter from 10 pixels to 100 pixels to allow for defogging. This version also includes a fix to ensure that the interpolation/sharpening status on the lower right of the main window updates properly when "File", "Load Printer Setup" is used.
v2003.268 09/21/03 Med v2003.268 fixes a bug related to dropping images on a new/blank page in freehand mode: images were getting dropped on previous (non-blank) page. Also reduced the maximum radius for the unsharp mask filter back to 16 in order to prevent extremely long processing times. A separate, faster, and more effective "defogging" filter will be added in a future version.
v2003.269 09/22/03 Low v2003.269 offers "rule of thirds" cropping. From the batch filter window, click "View" from the top menubar and check "Rule of Thirds Cropping" to activate.
v2003.270 09/23/03 High v2003.270 corrects a problem that was causing large ICC profiles (such as printer profiles) to be truncated/corrupted when embedded in JPEG files. Also fixed is a bug that was causing the EXIF hotbar to display "NOT A VALID PROFILE" for some embedded profiles.
v2003.271 09/26/03 Med v2003.271 corrects a problem that was causing temporary files to be written to the root directory of the hard drive when loading/saving JP2 files.
v2003.272 10/03/03 Med v2003.272 includes the following:
  • Updated JPEG 2000 processing offers faster and more efficient loading/saving of JP2 files.
  • Added black point compensation to printer profile options under "Settings", "Color Management".
  • Added the ability to select rendering intent and black point compensation when doing image conversions from the queue or "Save As" from the batch filter.
  • Made some minor cosmetic changes/fixes to the batch filter window.
  • Fixed some display issues related to resizing the full page editor window.
  • Fixed the "Filter: Empty", "Filter: Present" indicator on the batch filter window.
  • Improved floating text so that the script/character set is recognized in order to support foreign language text.
v2003.273 10/09/03 Med v2003.273 fixes a problem that caused prints to be rotated differently (by 90 degrees) from the preview page and page editor views when dealing with images that are almost square in resolution (horizontal and vertical resolutions almost the same).
v2003.274 10/10/03 Low v2003.274 fixes a bug that was causing soft proofs of raw images (NEF, ORF, RAF) to appear too bright.
v2003.275 10/12/03 High v2003.275 fixes a bug that was causing the preview page and page editor to display distorted/rotated prints when using images with a crop filter.
v2003.276 10/13/03 High v2003.276 fixes a bug that was causing the preview page and page editor to display distorted prints when using images with a rotate filter.
v2003.277 10/14/03 High v2003.277 fixes one final issue with distorted appearance of prints under some conditions (full page editor only).

Qimage Version 2003.250 News
Giving you the features you need

Qimage v2003.250 (07/30/03):

New Features:

Fixes:

Version 2003.25x Revision History

Version Released Priority Description
v2003.251 07/30/03 Low v2003.251 corrects a stack overflow that caused the "Preview/Add" function to shut Qimage down if a raw (NEF, ORF, RAF) image was being previewed.
v2003.252 08/01/03 Low v2003.252 includes the following:
  • Semi-automatic downloader/installer allows the ability to quickly identify the latest available version, read release notes, and download/install via "Help", "About Qimage" from the Qimage main menu.
  • Ability to activate/deactivate embedding of ICC profiles in saved/converted images via "Settings", "Color Management".
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the "Convert Images" dialog to continue running after the close-window ("x" button) was clicked.
v2003.253 08/02/03 Low v2003.253 includes the following:
  • "Optimal" placement enhancement: Ability to click the "Image Lock" button to take control of print orientation manually when using "Optimal" image placement. When using "Optimal" image placement, if the Image Lock button is up (unlocked), Qimage has full control over print placement and orientation. If the Image Lock button is down (locked), images are initially added in their default orientation and the print orientation (portrait/landscape) buttons also become active to allow you to manually switch individual prints to portrait/landscape orientation as needed.
  • Improved reading of 48 bit TIFF images to increase compatibility with a wider range of 48 bit TIFF's.
  • Improved reading of PNG images to increase compatibility with a wider range of PNG images.
  • Fixed a problem with "Template" placement mode that was causing some prints to print on top of others, partially obscuring the bottom print.
  • Fixed an issue that caused incorrect image information to be displayed when using "Display Image Info" on files with .TIFF extensions.
  • Corrected a problem with reverse compatibility of session files in Qimage, allowing v2003.253 to read session files from any [older] version.
v2003.254 08/04/03 Low v2003.254 offers a new "Optimal/spaced" placement method that optimizes paper usage while at the same time providing maximum spacing between prints. See the image placement section of the help for more info. v2003.254 also offers a slightly improved "Optimal" spacing method that is able to optimize paper usage under a wider variety of conditions.
v2003.255 08/05/03 Med v2003.255 includes the following:
  • "Optimal" and "Optimal/spaced" placement methods can now be used with the "Img. Info" option (grayed out in previous versions).
  • Improved the page preview and page editor display when using the "Img. Info" option to be more WYSIWYG.
  • Made poster printing easier by automatically selecting the best print orientation for the selected poster size and paper orientation.
  • Improved "Freehand" placement mode by offering the ability to reduce/expand layouts when paper size is changed while in "Freehand" placement mode.
  • Fixed a problem where some large prints were rotating to the wrong orientation and not fitting on the page when using one of the optimal placement methods.
  • Fixed a few minor print auto-orientation issues when printing large sizes.
v2003.256 08/06/03 Low v2003.256 improves the "Levels" filter by updating the histogram display when the image is cropped so that the histogram applies to the cropped area. This version also fixes a bug that caused image distortion in the batch filter if the image was rotated and the rotation was subsequently removed using the "Clear" button.
v2003.257 08/07/03 Low v2003.257 fixes the "File", "Load Settings" feature.
v2003.258 08/07/03 Low v2003.258 fixes an "I/O error 6" that appeared in the batch filter when using "File", "Save As" on an image with an embedded ICC profile.
v2003.259 08/08/03 Low v2003.259 fixes the "Page", "Margins", "Center on Physical Page" option when using metric units.

Qimage Version 2003.240 News
Making Qimage easier to use through smoother operation

Qimage v2003.240 (07/24/03):

New Features:

Fixes:

Version 2003.24x Revision History

Version Released Priority Description
v2003.241 07/25/03 High v2003.241 eliminates "JPEG error #36" when saving JPG files that are between 1.0 and 2.0 MB in size. This version also improves the "Page", "Margins" feature by allowing you to specify margins relative to paper in portrait orientation. Since margins are now specified for left, right, top, bottom based on how the paper feeds into the printer (regardless of whether you have set portrait/landscape), margins no longer change arbitrarily when you rotate your page from portrait to landscape or vice versa. The new method of specifying margins allows you to use the "Center on Physical Page" option without worrying about whether your print driver is in portrait or landscape mode; images will be centered regardless of your paper orientation.
v2003.242 07/26/03 Med v2003.242 eliminates a "TProgressBar property out of range" error when printing extremely large photos or jobs with a large number of smaller photos.
v2003.243 07/28/03 Med v2003.243 includes the following:
  • Cutouts/frames that are not perfectly square will now auto-rotate to obtain the best fit before stretching/stamping on images.
  • Fixed some batch filter display issues where the main work image was not being updated properly in some cases.
  • Re-enabled the lossless JPEG transforms in the batch filter window.
  • Corrected the initial resolution (PPI) reading for uncropped images in the queue that contain a border.

Qimage Version 2003.200 News
New version. New interpolation. New features. Better performance!

Qimage v2003.200 (02/07/03):

New Software Name/Version Convention:

Some of our veteran users may have noticed that we have changed the name of our software from "Qimage Pro" to simply "Qimage", and have also changed the version numbering scheme. We have made these changes mainly to serve our users better by providing a less confusing nomenclature. The product is known and referred to as "Qimage" by most people on Internet message boards and UseNet groups, and removal of the "Pro" adjective should eliminate questions about whether we offer both "regular" and "pro" editions of the software; there has always been only one edition. In addition, we have decided to simply include the year in the version number rather than restarting version numbers at the beginning of each year. This will eliminate issues with users understanding that Qimage 2003 v1.0 is a later version than Qimage 2002 v2.0, etc. Other than a new naming/numbering convention, there is nothing inherently "different" about Qimage.

New Features:

Fixes:

Version 2003.200 Revision History

Version Released Priority Description
v2003.201 02/09/03 High v2003.201 fixes an access violation error on startup which affects some installations/configurations of Qimage.
v2003.202 02/11/03 Med v2003.202 includes the following:
  • Fixed a problem with printing large prints from low resolution images where prints showed "tiling" that looked like slightly misaligned chunks.
  • Enhanced "Save Printer Setup" and "Load Printer Setup" functions so that "Printer ICC", interpolation type and level, smart sharpening, and other print-related parameters are also saved with print driver properties. This enhancement allows association of an ICC profile (and other settings) with print driver settings. Speed buttons are also available at the top of the window for these functions, and the old "Load Settings" and "Save Current Settings" speed buttons have been removed.
  • Changed wording on the batch filter "File", "Save As" function to read "Vector Resample" instead of the old default "Lanczos Resample".
v2003.203 02/12/03 Low v2003.203 fixes a bug that caused printer setup files saved in v2003.202 to load with the "print to file" option set when "print to printer" should have been set instead.
v2003.204 02/13/03 Low v2003.204 fixes an issue where redeye/blemish corrections moved slightly after being placed via the batch filter.
v2003.205 02/19/03 Med v2003.205 fixes a problem where "tiling" was visible in some prints (and print-to-file operations). The tiling artifacts, which appeared as slightly misaligned sections of a mosaic, became more noticeable when using higher levels of smart sharpening and were not present if smart sharpening was turned off. In addition, v2003.205 will no longer use 100% of the CPU when certain windows are open (like the batch filter, convert dialog, etc) due to a better Windows user-input interface.
v2003.206 02/20/03 Low v2003.206 includes the following:
  • Ability to select rendering intent for printer profiles: check "Settings", "Color Managament" to access printer profile intents.

  • Fixed a bug that was causing crop filters to not show in the batch filter when using "File", "Open Filter Parameters...".
v2003.207 02/21/03 Low v2003.207 renders downsampled images slightly sharper due to a more consistent downsampling routine. v2003.207 also fixes a bug that was causing the previous version to crash when trying to view/print/convert Fuji S2 raw images.
v2003.208 02/25/03 Low v2003.208 includes an improvement to "optimal" placement mode, allowing more prints per page under some conditions. The "save filter parameters" function in the batch filter was also updated to check for existing files and warn before overwriting previously saved filters.
v2003.209 03/01/03 High v2003.209 includes the following fixes:
  • Fixed a bug that caused some (mainly small) prints to have blown out or falsely-colored highlights in v2003.207 and v2003.208.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing inaccurate resolution (PPI) values in the queue for some images with an associated crop.
  • Fixed a print location problem related to overwriting file names in the queue with the [Template] thumbnail.
v2003.210 03/05/03 Low v2003.210 improves the "display full screen" function so that images appear sharper when resized to fit the screen.

  • More accurate color for D100 raw (NEF) images.
  • Increased maximum pixel resolution for all image operations from 16,384 x 16,384 to 32,768 x 32,768.
  • Improved the "print to file" function so that the printer profile is embedded in saved images if using "Printer ICC" and images are saved in TIF format.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Qimage to become unstable after clicking "Slide Show" and then clicking "Cancel" before starting the slide show.
v2003.212 05/01/03 Low v2003.212 fixes a bug that caused images with ".jpeg" file extensions to appear twice in the thumbnail view.
v2003.213 05/06/03 Med v2003.213 includes the following:
  • TWAIN support via "File", "Import via TWAIN" allows scanning from Qimage.
  • Fixed a bug related to EXIF and ICC profile information not showing for images with ".jpeg" extension.
  • "Queue is limited to 2000 images" error message will now only appear once when dropping >2000 images from another application.
  • Qimage is no longer unstable when entering a folder of unsupported NEF/ORF files; appropriate error message is displayed.
  • Updated the Qimage program icon so that it is visible and consistent across all operating systems and configurations.
v2003.214 05/09/03 Low v2003.214 includes the following:
  • Modified the thumbnail selection/print size interface to allow for two workflows: "select thumbs, add size" or "select size, add thumbs". See the help under "Help", "Contents", "Learn by Example" and look at the workflow notes at the bottom of example 3 for more info.
  • Preview page now automatically advances to show current page when using "Preview/Add" feature.

v2003.215 05/17/03 Low v2003.215 includes the following:
  • Improved the "Flash Card Copy/Move" function so that the proper image folder is auto-selected when reading flash cards from Canon cameras. Older versions were auto-selecting the "CANONMSC" folder by mistake.
  • Added "use sRGB color space" checkbox to the "Create e-mail/web size copies" feature so that images in other color spaces such as Adobe RGB, etc. can be converted directly to sRGB when creating the e-mail/web copies.
  • Made the selections on the "Create e-mail/web size copies" window stick so that they are remembered for future sessions.
  • Added text that describes how to use the "Flash Card Copy/Move" function to the help.
v2003.216 05/20/03 Low v2003.216 includes the following:
  • Qimage now supports the EXIF "orientation" parameter so that images will automatically display in portrait/landscape orientation for cameras that have a built in rotation sensor. To display old thumbnails in the proper (upright) orientation with v2003.216, simply click "View", "Rebuild Thumbs".
  • The "Flash Card Copy/Move" function has been improved so that multiple image folders can be detected. After the first folder of images is copied/moved, the user is prompted to continue to the next folder on the flash card that contains images.
v2003.217 05/21/03 Med v2003.217 includes the following:
  • Added an indicator that shows the status of "Final Print Sharpening" to the end of the "Interpolation" line in "Print Processing". A green * indicates that sharpening is on while a red * indicates that sharpening is off.
  • Added the ability to change all parameters in the "Print Processing" group on the lower right of the main window using left click to toggle through settings or right click to open the properties window. The new left-click-to-toggle function allows quick access to turning on/off profiles, switching sharpening on/off, etc. while the right-click-to-properties function allows access to the detailed properties window for the selected item.
  • Improved the "Page Set" function so that different page sets can be loaded without each new page set creating more pages in the document.
  • Fixed a bug from v2003.216 that was causing an error message when using a "Page Set".
  • Fixed a bug that was causing the font dialog to appear behind the "Info Stamp" filter window in some cases.
  • Fixed a bug that was causing checkboxes on the "Info Stamp" window to not be applied properly and/or not "stick" for subsequent uses under some conditions.
v2003.218 05/22/03 Low v2003.218 includes the following:
  • Added a new sample page set called "order-sheet-12up" under "Custom", "Page Set" that allows photographers to print contact sheets with 12 photos per page. Detailed photo information is printed under each photo along with boxes for customers to order the desired number of 8x10, 5x7, 4x6, and wallet size photos.
  • Fixed a problem with the "Info Stamp" filter not using the proper font color when adding to existing filters.
  • Fixed a bug that caused prints and associated (linked) floating text to become misaligned after manually updating the print locations on the right side of the page editor window.
v2003.219 06/06/03 Low v2003.219 fixes a bug that caused a blank page to remain in the queue after deleting a page while in "Freehand" placement mode.
v2003.220 06/20/03 Med v2003.220 contains an improvement to the ICC color management engine that eliminates posterization (color bands) in dark shadows that occurred in rare cases when using certain types of profiles in older versions.
v2003.221 06/23/03 Low v2003.221 contains an updated color management DLL that renders even cleaner shadows when using ICC profiles.
v2003.222 07/04/03 Med v2003.222 includes one final change to the color management DLL that results in the smoothest, most accurate rendering of printer profiles to date.

v2003.226 07/11/03 Low v2003.226 includes the following:
  • Ability to toggle between the soft proof image and the original image (with monitor profile applied) when soft proofing individual images via the thumbnail grid. Right click after the soft proof appears to see options or press space bar to quickly toggle between the original and soft proof image.
  • Fixed the [individual image] soft proofing window so that the window title bar doesn't disappear after using "View Full Screen".
  • Improved the print "Border" option so that the entire image is always shown inside the border when crop is set to "fit in frame" (crop button UP).
v2003.227 07/11/03 Low v2003.227 includes the following:
  • Ability to use cutouts as frames without obscuring part of the image. See "Help", "Contents", "Listing of Major Functions", "Cutouts" and read about frames at the bottom of the page.
  • Fixed a problem that was causing the full screen soft proof window to display blank under certain conditions.
v2003.228 07/12/03 Med v2003.228 fixes a bug that was causing cutout filters to crash when cutouts were applied to cropped images.
v2003.229 07/14/03 Low v2003.229 offers a new print logging feature that allows you to keep a record of everything you print! See "Help", "Content", "Listing of Major Functions", "Print Logging" for full details.
v2003.230 07/15/03 Med v2003.230 fixes a problem that was causing cropped images to be displayed incorrectly (only occupying a portion of the frame) in the full page editor.
v2003.231 07/18/03 Med v2003.231 includes the following:
  • Cutouts are now sized and stamped on the final print so that the entire cutout is used regardless of the final print crop. This means that cutouts such as copyrights, frames, etc. will no longer be chopped off when the crop button (scissors icon) is down.
  • The filtered/unfiltered slider in the batch filter's preview window now "sticks" and remains in the position last used until Qimage is restarted.
  • Improved the print progress meter so that the meter shows overall progress rather than individual print progress.
  • Improved the crop wizard so that setting a crop ratio to the same ratio as the image results in the crop including the entire image.
  • Fixed a bug that was causing parts of the batch filter window to oversaturate when moving the preview window over the main image.
  • Improved the speed of the saturation filter when using the batch filter with the preview window open.
v2003.232 07/18/03 High v2003.232 fixes a lockup that occurred in v2003.231 when changing filter parameters in the batch filter.

Qimage 2003, v1.2 (01/02/03):

New Features:

Fixes:

Version 1.2 Revision History

Version Released Priority Description
v1.21 01/04/03 Med v1.21 fixes an issue where an ICC filter (associated via the "ICC" entry in the batch filter) would erroneously carry over to subsequent entries in the queue after the batch filter window was opened, then closed.

Qimage 2003 Version 1.1 News
More powerful features and smoother operation!

Qimage 2003, v1.1 (11/19/02):

New Features:

Fixes:

Version 1.1 Revision History

Version Released Priority* Description
v1.11 11/20/02 Med v1.11 includes the following:
  • Eliminated the old "Export pages as files" function, replacing it with a much more robust solution. Qimage can now be operated in two modes: "Print to Printer" (the default) and "Print to File" mode. In "Print to File" mode, the user can specify page size and resolution independent of the print driver. The new "Print to File" methodology not only allows users to use all Qimage print functions such as interpolation type and level, smart sharpening, and printer ICC profiles, but also allows greater flexibility for defining custom page setups when creating print jobs for online print services. See the Qimage help file under "Contents", "Listing of Major Functions", "Print to File" for more information, or refer to example 25a under "Learn by Example".
  • Fixed a problem that was causing colors other than pure shades of gray to show as transparent in cutouts.
  • Fixed a problem related to applying cutouts to cropped portions of images.
  • Re-enabled the special sizing functions such as "x", "*", and "mm" under "Custom", "Specific Size".
v1.12 11/21/02 Low v1.12 includes the following:
  • Improved EXIF support so that the status of the flash is reported properly for EXIF 2.2 cameras.
  • Eliminated a 1 pixel gap that occurred between printed borders and photos under some conditions.
  • The "Print to File" dialog now closes automatically when "printing" starts so that access to the main window is possible.
  • Added an "Overwrite existing file(s)" message when printing to file(s) if image file(s) with the specified name(s) already exist.
  • Fixed a bug related to changing the size of prints from the page editor while in metric mode.
v1.13 11/22/02 Low v1.13 includes the following:
  • Flash card auto detection: v1.13 now automatically detects when a compact flash or smartmedia card is inserted into most PC card readers. When Qimage detects that a flash card has been inserted into the reader, it automatically opens the "Flash Card Copy/Move" window and sets the "FROM" folder by locating images on the flash card. This auto-detection feature can be turned on/off via the options on the "Flash Card Copy/Move" dialog. Note that if the "Flash Card Copy/Move" window does not open when you have this option turned on and you insert a new flash card in your reader, your card reader is not communicating properly with Windows and it may need a new driver, or may be too outdated to use this feature.
  • Hard lock: changed the image lock function so that with the lock on, images will only be rotated if they are too big to fit on a single page otherwise. Example: trying to print a portrait 8x10 image on 8.5 x 11 paper when the paper itself is set to landscape (11 x 8.5).
  • Floating text: improved the "floating text" alignment so that alignment of text in the page editor window more closely agrees with printed output.
  • "Print to File" font: fixed the "Img. Info" font so that the proper font is used when printing to file.
  • Look & feel: made some cosmetic changes to a few windows to make them more "standard".
v1.14 11/23/02 Low v1.14 fixes a problem with the "Flash Card Copy/Move" window causing error messages under some conditions.
v1.15 11/25/02 Med v1.15 has an improved "smart sharpening" algorithm that makes printed sharpness at High, Med, and Low interpolation levels consistent with sharpening at the "Max" interpolation level. Since the new smart sharpening algorithm only affects High, Med, and Low interpolation levels, there will be no difference in your prints if you always use the "Max" interpolation level. v1.15 also improves performance of the "Flash Card Copy/Move" feature by offering better support for flash card readers that operate as "dual" drives.
v1.16 12/01/02 Low v1.16 contains an update to the text on the "Registration" window. No changes were made to underlying code.
v1.17 12/13/02 Med v1.17 uses improved logic to track user selections in the "Prints" group such as changes to cropping, print size, border size, and border color, in order to better predict the intended workflow. Previous versions maintained a separate set of parameters for each work area (thumbnail and print preview work area). While simple in concept, separating parameter changes based on work area often caused confusion. For example, a user may have just changed the auto-crop from off to on for some existing prints only to find that the crop button "popped back up" when they moved back to the thumbnail work area. v1.17 eliminates this confusion by making the last change (to print size, print orientation, auto-crop, and borders) "stick" so that the last change is remembered regardless of which work area is in use. In other words, as an example, if the crop button is changed from off to on for an existing print, it will remain on for the next thumbs added to the queue.

This change has an added benefit in that users can select a print on the page and have the "parameters" of that print carry over to the next thumbnails added to the queue. For example, if a page contains images with both red and green borders, simply selecting a print that has a red border will ensure that the next images added to the queue will contain red borders of the indicated size.

v1.18 12/17/02 Low v1.18 improves the print-to-file function so that the resolution (PPI) identified under the page setup is properly recorded in all page images. This ensures that images of printed pages are the proper default size when opened in photo editing programs, thereby eliminating confusion when delivering images to off site printing services. The resolution information is recorded in all page images saved in either the JPEG or TIFF image format (the BMP format does not support the resolution parameter).
v1.19 12/30/02 High v1.19 includes the following:
  • Improved color for D100 raw/NEF images.
  • Corrected an issue where prints with borders appeared distorted (stretched) under some conditions.
  • Reduced memory requirements when printing images with large borders.
  • Fixed a bug that affected border size when operating in metric mode.
  • Improved logic for finding the Windows color (ICC profile) folder when more than one color folder is present.
  • Improved the "Cancel Print" button so that it is always visible and is enabled during printing.

Version 1.0 Revision History

Version Released Priority Description
v1.01 11/06/02 Med v1.01 includes two new functions and some fixes:
  • Added the ability to delete thumbnails. See "Utilities", "Manage Thumbnail Cache" for more info.
  • Added the ability to reset all Qimage parameters to defaults. See "Help", "Reset All Program Settings" for more info.
  • Updated the "safe mode" startup (holding shift key while starting Qimage) so that it boots in default (initial install) settings.
  • "Connected" the print orientation (portrait/landscape) buttons so that they affect the default size and not just the size buttons.
  • Fixed the thumbnail preview window so that "selected" is not checked by default.
  • Restored the "Add" button to the thumbnail preview window so that adding at the current/default size is possible.
  • Fixed several inconsistencies related to the current/highlighted work area versus selecting new sizes, print orientation, and cropping.
  • Fixed a bug related to right clicking on size buttons to enter a custom size when in metric units.
  • Improved the Qimage program icon.
v1.02 11/07/02 Low v1.02 includes the following:
  • Fixed a problem related to loading sessions that were saved with previous versions using the old "Optimize" placement option.
  • Improved main window sizing/resizing to better accommodate controls and allow true maximize/restore functions.
  • Improved print selection in the page editor so that the "Freehand" warning message does not appear when left clicking on prints.
v1.03 11/08/02 Low v1.03 includes support for Nikon D100 raw (NEF) images. Qimage support for this camera will be limited to uncompressed NEF files in their original format (as stored by the camera). Compressed NEF's and NEF's that have been saved by Nikon software will not be supported. v1.03 also includes some minor cosmetic changes such as the color of the text on the print size buttons.
v1.04 11/11/02 Low v1.04 includes the following:
  • Final color for D100 NEF's through custom profile, plus support for original/uncompressed NEF's for D100 firmware 2.0.
  • Fixed some access violation errors related to manipulating raw files (NEF, ORF, RAF) in the batch filter.
  • Eliminated unnecessary warning messages when using "Freehand" placement mode.
  • Corrected a problem that was causing inaccurate margins to be displayed in the page editor after using (or adding) prints with borders.
  • Added a message that warns users (at print time) about poster size prints that contain only a small "sliver" on a page.
v1.05 11/12/02 Low v1.05 is capable of handling more "incarnations" of the uncompressed D100 NEF format (across different firmware versions). In addition, the system "color" folder is now properly detected for systems with dual boot (multiple operating systems) so that the ICC profile browser can locate system color profiles more effectively. Finally, a bug was fixed that caused borders to inadvertently appear around prints when loading sessions from old versions of Qimage after using borders in a previous document.
v1.06 11/15/02 Med v1.06 includes the following:
  • Selected thumbnails are now outlined with a blue border to make selections more obvious.
  • Improved the "By Number" sizing method to account for the space required when "Img. Info" is checked.
  • Fixed a problem with the "By Number" sizing method being used in conjunction with metric units.
  • Fixed a problem with loading sessions when the original session was designed at a different printer PPI.
