Better user flow control for the batch filter and page
editor
Qimage v2005.320 (07/18/05):
New Features:
Batch filter: More logical placement of the flow control buttons (Prev, Next, and Done) on the right side of the batch filter window and addition of a "Cancel" button to exit without saving. Appropriate prompts to "save before exiting" will appear when appropriate.
Page editor: Added a "Cancel" button to exit the page editor without saving changes with "save before exiting" prompts where appropriate.
Help: Activated the "Crop lock" and "Sharpness equalizer" context sensitive help in the batch filter window and updated the associated F1 help description for "Crop lock".
Fixes:
Loading sessions: Fixed a problem that was causing sessions to load incorrectly (by creating blank pages) if images were already in the queue when using the "New" option.

| Version | Released | Priority | Description |
| v2005.321 | 07/21/05 | Low | Cropping is now easier and more informative when cropping an image in the batch filter window or using the high precision crop in the page editor. |
| v2005.322 | 07/22/05 | Med | Eliminated sluggish performance when cropping an image in the batch filter window with a cutout filter in place. |
| v2005.323 | 08/01/05 | Med | Corrected an "invalid floating point error" message that was occurring during some operations. Also eliminated an error message that was occurring in the page editor after using Ctrl-X (cut) and Ctrl-V (paste). |
| v2005.324 | 08/02/05 | Med | Fixed a bug that was causing error messages and/or instability during some operations. |
| v2005.325 | 08/03/05 | Low | v2005.325 offers improved compatibility with certain drivers and/or system configurations, particularly under older operating systems (98, ME, etc.) |
| v2005.326 | 08/04/05 | Low | v2005.326 corrects the "Apply to all copies of this print" checkbox on the page editor cropping tool so that it works properly after using the high precision cropping tool. In addition, a minor anomaly was eliminated that was causing the thumbnails to jump up/down by one row if a key was pressed while at the bottom of the thumbnail grid. The Qimage program/desktop icon has also been improved in this version. |
| v2005.327 | 08/05/05 | Low | v2005.327 eliminates "extra" file names visible at the bottom of the thumbnail grid when moving to a folder with fewer images. |
| v2005.328 | 08/05/05 | Low | v2005.328 adds floating text options for printing "date only" and "time only". In addition, desktop and program icons have been further refined. |
| v2005.329 | 08/06/05 | Low | v2005.329 includes an improvement to the "template" positioning method that allows print size to be changed without changing the template structure. Also, print locations all the way up to the edge of the printable area may now be entered via the page editor even when "extra" margins are defined. |
| v2005.330 | 08/08/05 | Low | In v2005.330, the five file tool buttons at the top of the main window have been rearranged to a more logical order. In addition, this version allows faster resizing/maximizing of the main window to eliminate timing issues when the window is resized while thumbnails are being drawn. |
| v2005.331 | 08/09/05 | Med | v2005.331 fixes a bug that was causing images to be placed incorrectly when dragging/dropping in freehand mode onto pages prior to the last page. |
| v2005.332 | 08/10/05 | Low | v2005.332 offers improved performance when accessing images over a network. This version can also detect when changes have been made to associative filters (such as a filter file being removed outside of Qimage) and will rebuild thumbnails as appropriate. Also in this version is a fix that was causing cutouts to appear on the wrong image(s) in the full page editor under certain conditions. |
| v2005.333 | 08/11/05 | Low | The preview page and full page editor will now show a faint outline at the edge of each print for prints that include a border. The outline helps eliminate confusion about print size and location when using a white border. The outline is a visual aid that assists with sizing and placement and does not print. |

Pyramid interpolation gets even better
Qimage v2005.310 (06/16/05):
New Features:
Pyramid interpolation improvements: Qimage's "pyramid" interpolation method has been improved to deliver higher quality results that include smoother edges and much less background noise/grain. This version also features a smoother-sharper adjustment control for the pyramid interpolation method that allows the user to select the desired amount of sharpening by dragging the adjustment slider from the smoothest to the sharpest setting or any location in between. Click here for a sample showing the new pyramid interpolation.
Fixes:

Smoother and faster
Qimage v2005.210 (05/03/05):
New Features:
Smoother: A completely rewritten background thumbnail builder can build thousands of thumbnails in a folder while you do other things in Qimage. Unlike prior versions, the background thumbnail builder no longer slows down operations as it is truly multi-threaded and makes use of multiple processors and hyperthreading. You can now work uninterrupted adding filters, printing, viewing, and performing other tasks while Qimage's thumbnail builder works at building all thumbnails in the current folder.
Faster: More efficient screen/object refreshing for faster operation.
More reliable: Due to separating the background thumbnail building into its own exclusive process, operation of Qimage will be more reliable while the background thumbnail builder is at work, enabling not only better performance but also freedom from occasional conflicts (error messages) that could cause various error messages in older versions.
Fixes:
Batch filter resolution boxes: Fixed an anomaly where the resolution boxes in the batch filter showed the wrong resolution after entering a new resolution and clicking "Apply".
Print to file: Fixed the "cancel printing" button (and Esc key sequence) so that Qimage does not continue printing after the cancel command.
Cutouts: Fixed a problem where cutouts could appear in the wrong orientation on the batch filter window but view/print correctly under certain conditions.

Qimage Version 2005.200 News
Some very helpful additions
Qimage v2005.200 (04/01/05):
New Features:
Direct email support: v2005.200 offers the ability to send multiple images via email by opening your email client and preparing a message with the images already attached. Images may be selected by selecting multiple thumbs and right clicking "Send via Email" or by using the "Create email/web copies" function from the queue. See the help on this function for more details.
Text alignment: Center, left, and right justify buttons are now available on the floating text dialog.
Sticky crops: Qimage now remembers your crops automatically when you move/change the crop using the cropping tool in the page editor. Need to adjust the crop to get the best 8x10 of an image called "wedding_011.jpg"? Simply select that image in the thumbnails, click the 8x10 button, open the page editor and drag the crop to where you want it. Qimage will remember that crop every time you add "wedding_011.jpg" at a size of 8x10! Need to print some 4x6 prints of the same photo? No problem. Add another copy at 4x6, adjust the crop on that, and Qimage will remember your 4x6 crop too (separately from your 8x10 crop)! It's all automatic: nothing new to learn. Just adjust your crops as you go and forget about it. When you go back into Qimage a month later to do some reprints, the same 8x10 and 4x6 crops that you previously identified will be recalled automatically.

Qimage Version 2005.110 News
A new file browser plus some fixes
Qimage v2005.110 (12/14/04):
New Features:
New file browser: v2005.110 has a new file browser panel that is part of the main window. The panel can be shown/hidden and can be sized by the user.
Cropping 1:1 images: To allow consistent crops/prints, v2005.110 now places a landscape crop on all square (1:1) images by default when printing non-square sizes. Crops can be changed from landscape to portrait crops using the cropping tool in the page editor (click the "rotate" checkbox in the cropping tool).
Minor improvements and fixes:
Faded cutouts: Cutouts with fading (such as the fade-oval cutout) now fade to the page background color when the background color is set to a color other than white. Note that since thumbnails are built based on the current background color, you will need to rebuild thumbnails after changing the page background color if you want accurate page previews, otherwise your page preview may show images with the wrong color fade (but your prints will still fade to the proper/background color).
Global filter: Fixed a bug that was causing the global filter to not apply even when turned on.
White balance filter: Fixed a problem with the white balance dropper taking the wrong color after being used the first time.

| v2005.118 | 02/17/05 | Low | v2005.118 includes an updated
color management engine that produces more accurate
results when dealing with certain input/output profiles
such as those used with QTR (Quad Tone RIP). This version
also handles CMYK and other unsupported profile types
more "gracefully" by simply displaying an error
message and ignoring the profile rather than shutting
down Qimage whenever an unsupported profile is
encountered. QTR users note: If you are a QTR user, please be sure to download the latest profiles from the QTR web site. Note that while Qimage now accepts grayscale profiles, we recommend that QTR users continue to use the "QTR RGB" profiles rather than the "QTR Gray" profiles simply because Qimage still saves files in the RGB format. Use of RGB profiles will avoid issues with "invalid embedded profile" errors in other software due to gray profiles being embedded in RGB encoded images. With v2005.118, QTR users will now get the same results when using either set of profiles ("QTR RGB" or "QTR Gray") and the results will now match results from the same/compatible workflow in PhotoShop. |

Qimage Version 2005.100 News
More horsepower, less weight!
Qimage v2005.100 (11/30/04):
New Features:
Improved performance: v2005.100 may look the same on the outside, but a major redesign of the internal image processing algorithms has put a brand new powerplant under the hood! v2005.100 is both faster and less memory intensive than prior versions. You'll see a performance increase of about 30% or better on many operations such as printing and will see some operations finish up to 5 times faster than before, all while using less memory (RAM and hard drive scratch space) than ever before!
Improved stability: The reduced memory footprint of v2005.100 leads to greater overall stability when performing time and memory intensive operations and will assist in getting the job through on those older, slower, and less capable machines.
Ability to handle larger images: The pixel/resolution limit has been increased from 32,768 x 32,768 to 100,000 x 100,000 pixels, allowing you to open, view, and print much larger images such as collages and panoramas (subject to the memory limitations of your machine of course).
Printing multiple copies: Dramatically improved performance when printing multiple copies of the same image (in the same orientation).
Page background color: Ability to select a background color for your printed page so that all pages print with the specified background color.
"In queue" indicator for thumbnails: The file names listed under thumbnails in the thumbnail grid will now be bold if at least one copy of that thumbnail is already in the queue. This gives a quick indication of which thumbnails have already been added to the queue.
Load printer setup: The "load printer setup" function now restores the default print size used the last time the printer setup was saved.
Borderless printing: Ability to control (turn on/off) the print size expansion and overspray characteristics of your print driver's borderless mode even if your print driver doesn't have an "amount of extension" control. If you use the borderless option in your print driver but don't like how it always stretches prints to a larger size and oversprays the edges of the paper, simply click "Page", "Borderless overspray/expansion" and select "disable".
Minor improvements and fixes:
Prints with borders: The print border is no longer sharpened along with the print when printing images with a border.
Startup: Qimage will now start in the "My Pictures" folder by default, unless the folder does not exist.
Thumbnail font: Changed the default thumbnail font to Arial 7 for better readability.
Email/web copies: The email/web copies dialog now closes automatically when Qimage is finished making web/email copies of images.
Memory issue: Fixed a memory "leak" that occurred on some machines when building the first page of thumbnails for the first time.
Profile embedding and IPTC: Fixed a bug that was causing images with IPTC data to omit the embedded profile, causing the saved image to have no embedded profile.
Minor interface issues: Fixed some minor interface bugs such as missing hot keys, default print size not rotating under certain conditions, white balance dropper in the batch filter not working with the filter preview window open, etc.
Version 2005.10x Revision History
| Version | Released | Priority | Description |
| v2005.101 | 12/01/04 | High | v2005.101 fixes problems with saving filtered images where only the original image was being saved (filters were not being applied) after using the "Save As" feature from the batch filter, using "Create New Images" from the filter application dialog, or when checking "Add to/replace existing filters" and specifying a filter when converting from the queue. |
| v2005.102 | 12/02/04 | Low | v2005.102 re-enables the associative resolution change (resample) filter so that resolution changes are honored in associative filters. |
| v2005.103 | 12/03/04 | Med | v2005.103 fixes a bug that was causing raw (NEF, ORF, RAF) files to convert/print at thumbnail resolution instead of full resolution. |
| v2005.104 | 12/06/04 | Low | v2005.104 includes the
following:
|
| v2005.105 | 12/07/04 | Med | v2005.105 includes the
following:
|
| v2005.106 | 12/08/04 | Low | v2005.106 ignores the borderless overspray/expansion setting (allow or disable) when printing to file to eliminate an issue that was causing small white page margins and slightly undersized prints if printing to file with overspray/expansion disabled. |
| v2005.107 | 12/09/04 | High | v2005.107 fixes several problems related to associative filters not being applied properly or being carried over to subsequent images in a print/convert session. This version also fixes a very rare problem associated with trying to print images that are only one pixel wide or tall. |
| v2005.108 | 12/10/04 | Low | v2005.108 improves the startup splash screen so that it doesn't appear on top of other running applications, allowing users to work on other tasks in rare cases where Qimage takes more than a few seconds to load: initial folder is on a network, contains thousands of images, etc.. |
