Qimage v2008.200 (12/24/07):

ddisoftware, Inc. is pleased to announce Qimage 2008.200, our professional photographic printing software for PC/Windows.  This major revision offers faster processing speeds, new features such as real time crop aspect ratio display, a new custom sizing option to specify one dimension and have the other dimension calculated automatically, Studio Edition features such as support for the latest camera raw formats including the newly released Nikon D3 and D300, the Canon 40D, Sony A700, and others, plus automatic signature/copyright application on prints.  Registered users please note: v2008.200 will require a new download password and unlock code which can be requested on our download page.  When requesting new download/unlock info, please be sure to follow the instructions on the form to ensure you get your new download/unlock information quickly!  Of course, you can continue to use your existing version until you get your new download/registration information.  Happy Holidays to all our loyal users and potential future customers!

  • Refine Raw Exposure: Added the ability to refine the exposure of a group of photos one-by-one using "previous" and "next" buttons to browse through selected photos.  Simply select multiple thumbnails (or prints in the queue) and then right click to "Refine Raw Exposure" and you can then use the Refine Raw Exposure tool to browse through the list of selected photos, correcting exposure, fill light, and white balance as needed.  Also added a check that will not allow the white balance dropper to be used in an area that is clipped (has blown highlights) and fixed some minor display bugs related to the controls on the Refine Raw Exposure dialog not updating color/position properly from one raw photo to the next.

  • Refine Raw Exposure: Updated the "Refine Raw Exposure" dialog to include the ability to define a custom white balance by using a WB dropper tool.  Also included on the "Refine Raw Exposure" dialog is the ability to copy custom WB settings from one raw photo to others selected in the same folder: handy when correcting WB on a group of shots under the same lighting.  This completes the "Refine Raw Exposure" dialog since all parameters that are best corrected in the raw data are now included: (1) exposure compensation, (2) fill light, and (3) custom WB corrections.  Click the help (question mark) button on the "Refine Raw Exposure" dialog for more info.

v2008.216 07/14/08 Low v2008.216 offers additional raw image processing improvements for the Studio Edition:
  • "Smart exposure" has been improved further so that an even greater percentage of raw photos will have optimal exposure with no manual adjustments. 
  • Opening/processing of raw images is also even faster in this version: 12+ MP D300 raw images will open in under 3 seconds full screen on a 3.4 Ghz single core Pentium! 
  • An important option has also been added to allow processing thumbnails using the raw image rather than using the embedded JPEG, making your thumbnails (color, contrast, etc.) 100% consistent with the full developed photos.  Go to "Edit", "Preferences", "Raw Format Options" and check "Optimize for quality" in the thumbnail group at the bottom of the dialog: note that thumbnails will take longer to build the first time you enter folders with raw photos (up to a couple of seconds each on a decent system) but the difference in quality is worth the one-time wait for initial thumbnail building.
  • Some minor display color bugs (double profiling) have also been addressed on some draft previews like the "Instaview" and Preview/Add functions.

Bug fix for Pro and Studio Editions:

  • Fixed a bug related to the "Select this image" checkbox on the Preview/Add dialog not working properly when thumbnails are pre-sorted by rating.
v2008.215 07/12/08 Low v2008.215 offers a significant update to raw processing functionality for the Studio Edition.  The new "smart exposure" option (in the Raw Format Options dialog) ensures that all raw photos are exposed properly even when the original was overexposed or underexposed.  Optimized raw image loading techniques ensure that your raw photos load as fast as possible based on how/when the image was opened.  For example, on most systems, pressing the space bar with the mouse over a raw thumbnail will display the raw photo full screen up to 4 times faster than previous versions.

Qimage v2008.100 (09/23/07):

ddisoftware is pleased to announce Qimage 2008.  We're looking forward to 2008 by providing a rock solid foundation with Qimage 2008.100, designed to tackle the most demanding photographic printing jobs.  Qimage 2008 includes some minor bug fixes and substantial improvements to memory management, allowing users to view, print, and process much larger photos such as huge stitched panoramas and super high resolution scans of large negatives!  v2008.100 has undergone beta testing (thanks to our Studio Edition User's Group) on platforms ranging from Macs running Parallels to XP machines to machines running either x86 or x64 versions of Vista.  Rather than adding new features, we've concentrated on performance with our initial release of Qimage 2008.  Our goal is to bring in 2008 with a rock solid performer that has essentially no learning curve for users coming from Qimage 2007.  Our future plans for Qimage 2008 include supplying incremental upgrades based on a list of predefined enhancements and allowing our users to prioritize those enhancements by voting (on our Qimage user groups) on the features they need first!  By providing incremental upgrades and allowing our Studio Edition User's Group to beta test prior to public release, we will be able to provide higher quality upgrades with minimal impact to users while steadily moving forward to make one of the most renowned printing packages in the world even better!  Pick up a copy of Qimage 2008 today and see how Qimage can exceed your photographic printing needs.
