Qimage Ultimate 2018-2024 Changelog v2024.101 includes: - AI Copilot: New AI Copilot user interface featuring comprehensive user options for full control (see video). - Color management: Color management engine updated to LCMS 2.16. - Fix: Fixed ability to read embedded image size for TIFFs saved with the image pyramid option. - Fix: Fixed inability to (re)load some saved jobs that contain photos from certain Android phones. 2024.100 includes: - AI features: Expanded AI features issue warnings for common layout mistakes and inconsistencies prior to printing*. - Page background: Added the ability to use a dropper to pick the page background color from an image. - 4K monitors: Improved visibility of tool/help tips on high res monitors. - Windows 11: Minor under-the-hood adjustments to improve performance with the latest Windows 11 updates. - Bug fixes: Fixed some minor bugs such as a live view glitch that appeared when switching rulers on/off. * Print centering is a good example of the new AI "co-pilot" features. You may be in IntelliCenter placement mode and assume all your prints will be centered on the paper only to find out that some are not centered because you've made centering impossible: some prints are too large to be centered in your printer's unequal non-printable margins. Now you will get a warning when this happens and you can take action before committing to print. We will be expanding AI co-pilot in 2024 to give you a helping hand in all your photo printing (all optional of course). v2023.115 introduces a new gauge in the thumbnail 'rendering' phase to provide better visibility of progress, especially when dealing with large folders or conducting thumbnail searches. v2023.114 includes: - Thumbnail search bar: Type in the "Search Thumbnails" bar above the thumbnails to display only thumbnails that match your text. - Unclog tool: The unclog/purge pattern has been updated to vary the nozzle sweep rate for more effective unclogging. - Full screen view: When using the full screen image preview, left click on the image to display image and filter (edits) info. - Under the hood: Various fixes and performance improvements. v2023.113 offers bug fixes, optimizations, and general under-the-hood improvements for speed and stability. v2023.112 includes the following fixes: - Mirrored prints: Fixed a bug where very large images (>1 GB) may spontaneously print mirrored under certain conditions. - Corner marks: Fixed an issue where corner cut marks were not previewing in the full page editor. - Template marks: Cut marks now preview in the proper locations when using template/centered print placement. v2023.111 includes: - Raw photo support: LibRaw updated to latest 0.21.1 to support the latest camera models including new CR3 formats. - Color management: Color management engine updated to latest LCMS 2.15. - Fix: Fixed a bug related to using the auto roll length feature with Canon roll printers in borderless mode. v2023.110 - UI improvements including larger thumbnails for high DPI displays v2023.109 - Print sizes: Mode indicators next to print sizes indicate whether clicking a size will add prints, change prints, or select a default size.* - Page alert: The page total indicator below the live view will flash yellow for 3 seconds whenever a page is either added or deleted.* - Page sounds: New sounds effects for a page added (page turning) and page deleted (page crumpling).* - Bug fix: Fixed a bug where "Multi Panel" could incorrectly highlight in the print sizes even though the selected print is not multi panel. * Notes: Clicking on a print size in the size list can add new prints (if the thumbnail grid is in focus) or change the size of an existing print in the live view (if the live view preview is in focus). Users have pointed out that it was easy to click on a print size thinking you are changing an existing print but instead get a new (unwanted) print and/or page because a thumbnail was the last thing they "touched". These new features make it more obvious what will happen when you click on a print size and will also alert you whenever a new page is created. v2023.108 - Floating text: Fixed floating text being larger than expected on systems with >100% Windows display scaling* - Black line: Eliminated a vertical black line on the UI under rare conditions on certain video cards/drivers. * If you use display scaling in Windows and you have saved jobs with floating text, verify the size and placement of floating text in OLD jobs since this fix may cause your fonts to be smaller (prior versions were too large). v2023.107: - B/W and color: Live view and full page editor switch to B/W when the driver is in B/W mode; no more printing surprises! - Unclog/purge sheets: Footer on printed purge sheets now shows what media type was selected. - Recall dialog: Sorting on all recall dialogs improved so that clicking Date column shows most recent at top. - Recalling printer setups: More options for filtering printer setups by printer, media type, and/or media size. v2023.106: - Offers significant speed improvements for the image editor plus a minor visual improvement for high DPI displays. v2023.105: - Multi panel printing: New fully customizable multi panel printing feature for printing one image across multiple sheets/panels - Color management: Color management engine upgraded to LCMS 2.14 (supports ICC 4.4 spec) v2023.104: - Driver AI: When letting driver manage color, "intent" in the driver is now set to the rendering intent in Qimage's options*. - Optimizations: Live view on main window is significantly more responsive, particularly with multiple prints per page. * Applies to drivers that offer a rendering intent in the driver settings (most photo printers). v2023.103 - Fixes a bug where Driver AI might fail to automatically change color mode in the driver under some conditions * Driver AI was correctly setting driver color mode when using the "Printer Profile" dropdown, but... * Driver AI was not being activated when selecting an ICC profile using certain other steps such as using the * "hammer/wrench" tool button next to the profile setting, via the "Edit", "Preference" menu, etc. v2023.102: - Improves Driver AI compatibility with Epson printers * Compatibility of both old (R series) printers and new (P series) printers has been improved * Fixes the problem where some Epson printer models would receive data but not print when Driver AI was enabled v2023.101: - Driver AI (Epson): Increased compatibility for Epson printers when using "Let printer/driver manage color". - Driver AI (Epson): Ability to select media type on the main UI for legacy Epson printers (R800, R1800, R2400, etc.). - Driver AI (Epson): Fixed some Epson drivers listing the wrong (or an old) profile when using "Let printer/driver manage color". - Profile suggestions (all printers): Even smarter "Suggest printer profiles" function with a better relevance sort. - Fit to...: "Fit to Page" and "Fit to Paper (scans/copies)" print sizes with hint balloons to better delineate the two sizes. * Most of the improvements to Epson Driver AI system relate to using Qimage's "Let printer/driver manage color" with Epson printers. The drivers for some models do not update some of the driver internal parameters when you do things like change the media type on Qimage's main UI, leading to "stale" settings inside the driver. For example, starting on Premium Glossy paper, if you switch to Luster (from Qimage's main screen), the driver may still be referencing the Premium Glossy profile because you didn't make that paper change inside the driver dialog. This is a driver issue since the driver fails to update the applicable profile when the host application changes media type. This version fixes these issues by Qimage updating all driver color management parameters and not relying on the driver to refresh color management settings. v2023.100: - Compatible: Compatible with nearly all Canon and Epson photo printers. - Intelligent: Manages all printer driver settings from color management to scaling and max print quality. - Thorough: Handles all brand-specific settings to prevent oversights and guarantee optimal print quality. - Convenient: Control media size, type, source, etc. from Qimage and never open the driver in most cases. - Optional: Let Qimage manage settings, choose your level of control, or take full manual control if you like. - And more: Also included are various bug fixes and UI optimizations in this version. v2022.127: Includes a new Driver AI system that fully manages Canon/Epson printer drivers for optimal quality! In such situations, it may be desirable to not mirror these objects that do not touch the edge of the photo as doing so will create a "copy" of the top of someone's head or the edge of a flower on the side of the canvas frame. This is especially true when printing line art or drawings that have a solid background: you would like the solid background to continue around the edge of the canvas and not create copies of edge detail on the sides of the canvas mount. In these situations, try the Canvas Edge (Intelli-Mirror) option. Before printing, it is recommended to use the soft proof button under the live view prior to printing to be sure no "disconnected edges" will be visible in final prints. Keep in mind that this feature is most useful for well framed portraits where the background (edges of the photo) are distinct from the subject. It will not attempt to remove disconnected mirrored edges if your background flows into the edge on a particular side. It will, however, stop things like the top of a crane against a blue sky from getting repeated in the top edge border... as long as the crane itself doesn't touch the top edge of the photo! If the crane does touch the top of the photo frame, it will continue into the border as this improves continuity of the photo and doesn't affect stretching of the canvas over the frame. v2019.107, December 29, 2018 - Thumbnails: Improved thumbnail quality eliminates appearance of pixelization and/or oversharpening of images in thumbnail grid - Live view and page editor: Improved quality for cleaner page previews - Bug fixes: Fixed some minor UI bugs v2019.106, December 20, 2018 - Rulers: Option to show rulers on the main live view (turn on/off via the "View" menu). - Grid: Option to show an alignment grid on the main live view (turn on/off via the "View" menu). - Snap: Option to snap print location/size in user selected increments when dragging on the main/live view (turn on/off and set spacing via the "View" menu). - Guide borders: New cut marks option that draws guide lines plus a border around each print. - Fixes/improvements: Minor bug fixes and improvements to UI operations like click/drag to size/move. v2019.105, December 14, 2018 - * Offers a simple way to open the printer driver dialog using default driver settings: hold the key and click "Properties" on the Printers and Settings tab. * Holding the shift key and clicking on the "Properties" button ignores any "remembered" settings that Qimage might be using and opens the driver using the printer preferences defined in Windows Printers and Scanners for the selected printer. This feature is handy, for example, if you want to start with a fresh set of driver preferences after installing a new printer driver version. v2019.104, November 27, 2018 - * Improves PSD file compatibility by recognizing embedded ICC profiles in PSD files with a wider range of save options and features. * In versions prior to 2019.104, embedded ICC profiles stored in PSD photos were not recognized in some cases, resulting in the wrong profile being associated with the image (default sRGB instead of Adobe RGB, Prophoto, etc.). The problem was limited to PSD files that had very large image headers due to being stored with many layers, a lot of IPTC info, or other user data. This problem has been fixed in 2019.104. v2019.103, November 22, 2018 - Fixes a compatibility issue that affected some HP printer drivers, particularly Z series printers. v2019.102, November 17, 2018 - Bug fix: keyboard shortcut Ctl-Alt-P to bring up printer setup was not working properly. - Bug fix: Img. Info check box in full page editor not working properly when UNchecking the box. - * Workarounds: workarounds fix numerous bugs in Canon XPS drivers when using a "Custom" media size (see below). * Canon XPS drivers have numerous margin bugs that appear when you select a "Custom" media size either in the driver or via the "Media Size" dropdown on the main UI. The bugs caused the live view to display the wrong print size and margins whenever a custom media size was in use. Since these are driver bugs, all software that offers a print preview are affected. We were able to create workarounds (patches) for the driver issues when working in portrait page orientation, however, be aware that there are no known workarounds for the bugs present when using landscape paper orientation in conjunction with custom paper sizes. Our best suggestion is to avoid using Canon XPS drivers (use the non-XPS driver), however, if you choose to use the XPS driver, stay in portrait paper orientation to avoid problems such as partial prints or blank pages. Note that the XPS drivers appear to work properly when using a standard sheet size from the media size selection so the above only applies to using "Custom" media sizes. v2019.101, November 6, 2018 - Fixes a bug that was causing print-to-file to produce all-white output pages. - Adds a drop-down for print spooler options on the Printers and Settings tab to enable quick access to the new "Spool and cool" spooling option. - Added an option to "Lock spool settings" under Edit, Preferences, Printing Options so that saved jobs/setups don't alter those preferences. - Grayed out settings on the Printers and Settings tab while printing is in progress to make it clear that those settings can't be changed while processing. v2019.100, October 20, 2018 Spool and cool: New spool and cool feature can prevent overheating of the printhead and eliminate ink drops that can occur when printing larger jobs (more than a few pages). - Choose Edit, Preferences, Printing Options and select the spool and cool feature. - Set maximum number of pages to print (in a row) before printing is paused to cool and park/wipe the head. - Set amount of time to pause before printing resumes. - Your printer will take a "break" at the specified interval (# pages) to cool down, then resume printing. Example: pause for 2 minutes every 5 pages. - Settings are saved in printer setups and jobs so you can specify different parameters for different (size) papers. Fix: For those who have the plugins, the plugin installer has been fixed and will now find all versions of Photoshop/Elements rather than just the oldest copy. v2018.126, October 9, 2018 - Includes improved memory management which enables printing of larger (higher resolution) images. v2018.125, September 21, 2018 -
