Mike:

I'm posting this because I feel my experince with Flashpipe must not be normal. But you should know of the problems I have had with the trial version because they certainly are not what I have come to expect from your software.

I installed the trial version on Windows Vista Ultimate SP2.

I could not use Flashpipe because it kept getting permission errors on some folder. So I went to uninstall it. I could find no uninstall application and there was no entry in the add/subtract folders list.

So far as I could tell, FlashPipe does not provide me any added benifits, so I am not concerned that I could not get it to work. But I thought you might like to know of my experience.

You are the one in a million people who has some oddball drive that causes problems with FlashPipe's automatic open routine.  Both the fix for this and the instructions on how to uninstall are listed in the readme file that installs with FlashPipe.  Just open the FlashPipe group and click on "Readme - Important Info" and the answers to your questions are there.  I'll paraphrase here:

(1) If you have problems with FlashPipe and any drive on your system not interacting the way you would like, just start FlashPipe with the shift key held down.  That starts FlashPipe in safe mode so that it won't auto-check any drives.  You can then go to settings and check the drive letters that you DO want FlashPipe to monitor.

(2) The uninstall instructions are near the bottom of the readme file: just go to "Start", "Control Panel" and either "Add/Remove Programs" (for XP) or "Programs and Features" (for Vista), find FlashPipe in the list, and uninstall.

I have just encountered the same problem that Steve Billard had uninstalling Flash Pipe.

I downloaded both Flash Pipe and Smart File. I am still evaluating Smart File, but now want to
purchase and install the latest vesion of Flash Pipe (correction not Smart File as in original post).  I want to do a clean install but when I go to the Win XP Pro Sp3 control panel and use Remove Programs, Flash Pipe is not listed...Smart File is listed.  I have also checked the Application Data folders...no Flash Pipe.

Flash Pipe is installed in the usual path, C:/Programs/Flash Pipe but there is No README in the folder.

Can I safely delete the entire Flash Pipe folder without causing registry problems.  My practice
is to always run my registry cleaner after doing an uninstall.

Last, on my single user computer, I have myself as the Administrator and also as a Limited User.
All my normal operations done in the limited status.  

When I install the new version of Flash Pipe if I do an Adm install will Flash Pipe Flash be available
to my Limited User status?

You may recall I had a problem with Qimage where the limited user was locked out.  If I rember
correctly the problem was solved by installing Qi in the All Users App Data folder.

I would gladly have done this, but there was no such entry in the programs and features list.

If your system doesn't give you an entry for FlashPipe to uninstall, then your Windows installer is either not working properly or not configured properly.  See attached.  FlashPipe should be on the list as soon as you install it.

... and in case this helps, I have a screen snap of my ADD REMOVE programs from XP.
Flashpipe is right there.

I ran the demo on a Vista 64 machine. There is no FlashPipe in my Program list or Readme file in the Flashpipe program folder.

Later: I downloaded and installed the most recent version of FlashPipe and now it appeared in the Program List.

Just a FYI, the installs are identical for the trial and the full version.  The only difference is the EXE inside.
