Auto-correct exposure

Wondering if anyone had suggested uses for for auto exposure compensation found on the image editing screen? Clipping settings?
Same if set as a global filter, or print filter?

It is my understanding that tool is, and has been, obsolete. Since Qimage has LEVELS and CURVES at your disposal, there is no need to even look at Exposure compensation. I believe that Mike left it in case long time users still used it.
