Specs for a Qimage Ultimate computer

Because I'm using QU a lot now, please could I have some advice as to what to specify when looking for a new computer. My most intensive use of QU is applying filters. I'm only used to Windows but would consider a Mac. Processors seem to have "cores" these days and I don't know whether having quad core is better than having single core, nor whether two processors are better than one (from QU's POV), nor whether there are other aspects of circuitry that are particularly relevant to image manipulation

Anthony,
See my post here.

The quad core I have now has 8 threads, 2 per core, great for multi-tasking such that QU continues create the raw cache when I open other programs. My aim with a new PC was to make it future proof as possible, the mother board will accept the next generation of 6 core processors, so the blurb says. I love Windows 7 too, fast!

Way to go, Terry. Thanks. Did you have it made for you or does it come from one of the major manufacturers?

I had it built at a local PC shop/repairers. It was based on one of their "standard" builds but modified by having a less fancy case, 2 x 1TB HDD's rather than 1 x 2TB, 2 DVD-RW drives and a slightly less expensive video card; NVidea GTS 250 rather than ATI and I have Windows 7 - 64 bit.
